Sunset Bay State Park has to be one of the most scenic spots when going Oregon coast camping, made up of towering cliffs and sandy beaches, with sites available very near the beach. Downtown Lincoln City is just a few minutes away from this Oregon Coast campground, making it one of the only Oregon coast campgrounds in the middle of a city.

For many, it provides the first opportunity for them to rest after flying over Lake Huron. For others, it’s a good place to pause before tackling the rest of the journey to Canada. It’s easy for birders to get a nice, long look at the birds, too. Since they are so exhausted, they often stick around for a little bit. And, you can find pontoon boat rentals, as well as some of the best perch and walleye fishing spots around so pack your rods and reels.
An 18-hole miniature golf course and the 18-hole disc golf course will keep the whole family having fun for hours. There is also a four-mile loop trail around the Lure Lodge area and a 1.5-mile one-way trail through the forest. Guided horseback rides, tennis and shuffleboard courts, and interpretive programs on native plants, animals, and local history round out the large offerings here at the park. The Little House has a perfect location on 14 acres, right by the ocean, Garrison Lake, and Port Orford.
One of the first things to look for is if the campground has RV sites—tent sites won’t work, even if your RV is small. It is smart to drain the black tank first so the “soapier” water from gray tank can kind of clean the hose as you drain the gray tank afterward. You will refill the tank afterward, so don’t walk away from the tank while the process is happening.
Pawnee Lake SRA – 68 camping pads with 30- and 50-amp electrical hookups, as well as 34 camping pads without electricity and 97 non-pad sites without electricity. The campground offers water, showers, modern restrooms and mature shade trees. Calamus Reservoir SRA – 132 pad site – 132 pad sites with 30- ands wi 50-amp electrical hookups spread over three different campgrounds. Shower houses are available at Homestead Knolls, Nunda Shoal and Valley View Flat campgrounds. All three areas offer mature shade trees, water and modern restrooms, and each area is within walking distance of the lake.

Also available are coin-operated shower facilities, modern restrooms and two dump stations. Keller Park SRA – 25 camping pads with 30-amp electrical hookups, as well as 10 non-pad sites without electricity. Alexandria State Recreation Area – 40 sites with 30-amp electrical hookup, 5 sites with 50-amp electrical hookup and 8 sites without electricity. The campground offers water, modern restrooms, a playground and dump station.
